Beth: Breath of the Wild #14

I've been planning to go back to the Yiga Hideout for a while, so after Jeff gave me a few tips I headed back!

I managed to sneak through the main part of the Yiga hideout by dropping mighty bananas. It's very helpful that Yiga are so drawn to them!

I ended up in a seemingly inescapable room, ready for Yiga's to jump out of nowhere and attack me :P I ended up giving the room a bit of a search and uncovered an exit with magnesis after getting a few chests.

Outside the hideout, a cut scene showed me this guy. As it turns out, this was some kind of Yiga boss, and I had to get past him.

Master Kohga tried to throw bomb type things at me, but I managed to use magnesis and throw them right back at him.

I received a Thunder Helm for defeating him, and the new task of traveling back to the Gerudo chief.

Back in Gerudo Town, the chief appreciated my gift and triggered a memory when she put it on!

The chief took me towards the last Divine Beast on her sand seal. She gave me bomb arrows to help knock the beast down!

I used the arrows to shoot the feet of the beast before it let me on.

I managed to get to the map terminal and start exploring a little, but I haven't got to any others yet. I have noticed this beast is a little more complicated though, with more than one part that rotates.

Beth: Breath of the Wild #13

Hi everyone! Thank you for bearing with me while I've been away the past week, I'm back now.

I didn't actually get to play much while I was away, but I did play a little BOTW.

I decided to leave the Yiga hideout (for now), and venture to the top North West of the map, where I found a Korok seed.

I also came across a little hut and a shrine, which I went to explore.

The shrine offered a simple puzzle using magnetism.

Along the way, I found a chest and a new weapon!

After completing the shrine and earning a spirit orb, I made my way to the little hut.

This took me to Selmie, who told me about shield surfing. I've been doing it for a while now, and she asked me to race down the mountain.

 I quickly completed the easy course, so she asked me to do the advanced one.

 This took me beyond the beginners course and through some flags, which I also quickly completed.

I completed the advance course in 1 minute 47 seconds, which is apparently good :P

Selmie gave me a Knight's Shield as a prize! My plan from now is to head back to the Yiga hideout and have another go at getting through that part to the last Divine Beast.

Beth: Breath of the Wild #12

Hi everyone! I haven't had much time to play BOTW recently, but I did manage to do a few things.

I actually noticed I haven't found many Korok seeds recently, but I did come across one new one! I really should start looking harder for these.

I also came across a shrine surrounded by luminous rocks. I solved the riddle and bombed the rocks to collect the luminous stones. I then places those in the middle of the stone and a new shrine appeared.

Inside, I followed a few puzzles using both the round and square bombs to explore the shrine and eventually get to the shrine statue.

Carrying through the gorge, I saw light (or sand?) streaming down through the rock. I followed the light, and came across some Yiga people.

Looking back, I realised I had red flags around me. I soon realised that I was below where I had traveled to a few weeks ago when I was looking for the Yiga Clan. This is where I was trying to find!

I soon came across a room with multiple entrances covered by cloth. I used the torches to burn the cloth and uncover the entrances.

Behind one of them, I found a set of stairs. This took me directly to the hideout, where I fought a few Yiga people.

I soon realised this is going to be a harder task than I thought. For now, I've been killed a few times and I'll try again soon - but it's good to finally find the hideout!

Beth: Breath of the Wild #11

 I haven't done much in the past few days, but I did try again for the Master Sword. Unfortunately I didn't have enough hearts, but I knew a way to sort that out!

Firstly, I headed to Rito Village to get an extra heart from with the spirit orbs I received from the Korok Trails.

While I was there, I ended up starting a side quest which took me to the Warbler's Nest.

I found one out of three in the shrine quest before I gave up for now. I have more important things to get on with!

I then took a tip from my brother and headed to Hateno Village. Near the south entrance to the village, there's a statue that allows you to exchange stamina for health and vice versa.

I traded a few for hearts and went back to the Master Sword. I was in luck! With a few hearts remaining, I managed to get the sword.

This triggered a memory, where Zelda tells the Deku Tree to relay a message.The Deku Tree also told me Zelda is still trying to fight.

The first thing I did was manage to take a quick picture of the Master Sword - yay!

Doesn't it look awesome? I feel like this is a big moment in my Zelda history.

Beth: Breath of the Wild #10

In this post, I explore the Lost Woods and Korok Forest, so avoid this post if you don't want spoilers for that area.

I headed to the Lost Woods after completing all of my shrine quests, and took my horse there.

I ended up ditching my horse in the first parts of the woods and following the torches. I didn't use a guide, and just used common sense to follow what I could see.

When I reached the end of the torches, I lost my way a little. The Lost Woods forces this steam/smoke over your screen and teleports you back to your last 'marker' or 'waypoint' (as I think of them), so it took me a while to find the right path. With a lot of trial and error, I came across a gorge and followed it.

This path led to the beautiful Korok Forest - a misty part of the woods that look constantly at dawn or sunset. In the centre, I found the Great Deku Tree. Talking to him recovered another memory - although I haven't checked if it did lessen my memory toll!

In front of the Deku Tree, I found the Master Sword. I don't have enough hearts to retrieve the sword (yet), but at least I know where it is now!

Koroks are - naturally - all over the forest, with one being bigger than the others. I talked to this one, and he offered me a series of 3 shrine trials, that were pinpointed on my map.

The first trial I went to was the Trial of Wood, which meant I had to wander along a path littered with monsters with only a wooden shield, sword and bow.

I didn't find it too hard and eventually came across the shrine, where I received an ancient core from the chest.

The second trial meant I had to follow Okai, a Korok, through the woods without being noticed! It took me a couple of days and many tries, but I did eventually complete this one too.

The last trial meant I had to follow a trail of iron in the trees, made much easier by using magnesis! I found this probably the easiest of all.

Beth: Breath of the Wild #9

I haven't been really following the story in Breath of the Wild recently, but I have been completing some shrine quests, which has taken me across the map!

One of these included an endurance test I attempted a while ago but couldn't complete. This time, with more hearts and help from food, I could! I then unlocked a shrine.

Another shrine quest took me to a collection of statues, and I had to shoot one in the eyes! At a certain time, a random statue lit up purple and I shot an arrow at it to unlock a shrine.

Another one took me to the north of Hateno Village, where I followed the line of cedars to yet another hidden shrine.

This shrine gave me the second part of the climbing set - boots!

I continued traveling north to the Spring of Power, where I found out I needed to search for a dragon.

I found the correct place on the map and eventually managed to shoot the dragon that flew overhead. I managed to receive a scale from the dragon.

On the way back to the Spring of Power, I found another horse! It sounds silly, but it's full black apart from the nose and just beautiful.

I then gave the statue in the Spring of Power the scale I'd managed to get, which unlocked a hidden shrine at the back of the spring.

Inside the shrine, I had to fight a Guardian. It took a while, but I eventually managed it! I exchanged my new spirit orbs for a few more hearts.
