Squishy: Perfect Town!

Last Sunday I found another four leaf clover. I have a beautiful town how am I getting these?

 

Groucho wanted to move out the following Friday. I don't like him that much so I let him go.

But then he changed his mind. Why do you do this to me?

...Maybe

...also maybe

 

Nooooooo!!!

 

On the bright side I found out the Groucho is Ike from Fire Emblem.

Today in town I noticed that the grass and trees changed colour. I love this shade of green.

Avery said that I haven't seen him in a while. That's true. I haven't played since the 4th September because of school.

While walking around town I saw a Jacobs Ladder!

So I went straight to the town hall to make sure that I wasn't being pranked. I actually got a perfect town without trying.

 

So I got the ability to remodel my town hall and got the option to add a flower clock. So I'm demolishing one of my fountains while I remodel the town hall (I'm leaving which one I chose a surprise :P)

Lastly Groucho pinged me to buy my Silver nugget for 3,600 bells. Yeah right.

Beth: Labor Day 2016

The other day, Daisy told me she hangs her clothes on a scarecrow to dry. If that doesn't scare me, I don't know what will.

 Later that night, I noticed the sky was really clear. I love this colour night sky as well, around midnight.

Chevre told me I needed a break, when I'd actually just left my DS on and been playing for only 10 mins or so!

 I headed over to Jeff's town last night to participate in Labour Day (as it's an NA only event). 

 I made sure to collect my picnic basket from Isabelle before leaving.

 In Julian's house, he used the shocked emotion and I finally saw his eyes! FYI, they are completely white. Creepy, huh?

 I then helped Jeff track down who a lost item belonged to. After double (possibly triple) checking everyone and around half an hour of searching, we finally found out it belonged to Agent S. Just don't be so careless next time!

Beth: Happy Home Designer: Nook & Antonio

 The other day I, I remembered a new month means a new Happy Home Designer Challenge! I'm surprised I remembered so early in the month, but for those who haven't taken part yet, don't worry. You'll be able to until the 15th!

 Two new furniture items were released for this challenge - one of those being the iceberg. I decided to do an ice theme outside, even though it's bright sunshine and rainbows!

 The reason I wanted the sun inside was due to an easy space theme.

  Other than that, I didn't make much effort for the challenge if I'm honest. Most of the furniture was space themed, and I made sure to include Space K.K. on an astro player.

I used rugs and patterns outside to create an ice theme. You can visit my project by scanning the QR card above!

 Last night, I headed on again for another design.

 

 I redesigned the snowy flagstones for a year-round design, and surrounded the path with white carnations! These are some of my favourite flowers in Animal Crossing, so I'm glad I unlocked them with this project.

 The only furniture needed for this project was the minimalist chair and mini-table.

And one other unlocked item, the rolling closet.

In the end, I decided to go for a simple Japanese theme rather than the expected contemporary!

 I really like how the inside turned out.

Beth and Squishy's thoughts on the 3DS Nintendo Direct

This is a collaboration post where we give our thoughts on the 3DS Nintendo Direct that happened on the 1st September.

Mario Sports Superstars

Squishy: I enjoy Mario sports games but usually not on a handheld. This game however looks really fun. I might pick it up.

Beth: I've played a few Mario sports games but they don't get me too excited - honestly I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. However, this does look like a fun game!

Super Mario Maker and Yoshi's Woolly World coming to 3DS

Squishy; As someone who owns one game but doesn't own the other I can see this being both a good and a bad thing. It gives 3DS users that can't get a Wii U a chance to play these awesome games. Then again this is basically Nintendo saying that the Wii U is dead.

Beth: I can't wait for Super Mario Maker! As I don't own a Wii U, this one is definitely on my to-buy list. I've always found it interesting, and loved platform type Mario games such as Super Mario 64 and more recently Super Mario 3D Land. I'm not as bothered about Yoshi's Woolly World, but it is probably something I'll look into.

Streetpass Mii Plaza update

Squishy: This is one of the best updates for the plaza in ages. They finally updated the amount of Miis that come into your plaza at a time and make going though the Miis quicker. This feature will make going to conventions easier. Also the dolt cars game is fun (I may or may not have spent 40 Play Coins on it).

Beth: The Mii Plaza doesn't bother me much, but I do use it when I'm out in busy places. However, it is annoying to only be able to StreetPass 10 people at a time, so this update will definitely come in useful.

Pikmin 3DS

Squishy: My first thoughts when I saw this was "Josh (from TheBitBlock) is gonna go crazy". I haven't played a proper Pikmin game but I think that this is the correct way to introduce the series to handheld systems. Imagine keeping track of 100 Pikmin on a tiny screen. I might pick it up after I play one of the games in the main series.

Beth: I've never playe a Pikmin game, so I'm not really bothered about this one. If anything, I'd prefer to pick up a main game, like Squishy.

Animal Crossing

Squishy: The amiibo cards made me want to buy an NFC reader. Plus I'm really excited for the Animal Crossing direct coming sometime this Autumn. The only flaw with the Animal Crossing update is that they are re-releasing a version of the game with the amiibo data already in it. That seems odd and a bit unfair since people who got New Leaf at launch will have to go through packs of amiibo cards to see every character while newcomers to the game can just buy the never version and have it there automatically.

Beth: This update definitely looks interesting...but it also annoys me. The past year of Animal Crossing has been a major disappointment for me - with getting little fun out of Happy Home Designer and not being able to purchase Amiibo cards due to the cost. As I don't have a Wii U, I haven't yet played Amiibo Festival, but honestly I'm not bothered.

However, this update does look good, and there are a lot of features I'll be interested in. Getting new furniture (like some of that released in Happy Home Designer) is something that will definitely appeal to me, and I like the idea of adding new villagers. But...this will likely push back the release of Animal Crossing for NX (or whatever they decide to do next), which I would have been much more interested in. And unless they have a lot of ideas behind the scenes, it's likely we're going to have a lot of things in this update rather in the next game. In my opinion, I'd much rather see that in the works than a new side game or update.

Overall

Squishy: I think we had one of the best Nintendo Directs since April 2015. We got a balance of small things that release this month and bigger things coming in the near future. Plus we have an Animal Crossing direct to look forward to.

Beth: It's an interesting one. I'm excited to see that there's a lot happening in the world of Nintendo, and I'm glad I'll be around when it's all released...but as you can see, I have a few niggles, too. However overall, it's been a good one. We've got a lot to look forward to!

Beth: Coffee K.K.

 Yesterday, I exited my house to (almost) fall into a pitfall. If I didn't know better, I would have thought Jeff had planted this :P

 I surprisingly dug up two time capsules today - one for Chevre and one for Filbert.

 While I was around Chevre, she asked me to move out. I didn't let her as she hasn't been in Acorn long!

 Today, Francine spoke about Squishy!

 I saw my friend Jodie in real life today, so I headed over there on local connection and met Rosie.

 I left Jode a little message on her notice board :)

 I found out Olivia moved into Crossing via StreetPass! She's now moved to Acorn from Taured and to Crossing from Acorn all through local connection.

  While shopping, I noticed something really interesting - the font used for T&T Emporium is the same as the cover logo for Animal Crossing: New Leaf! It's not something I would usually notice (and I obviously haven't until now), but I have used the font before (Fink Heavy) and I picked up on it this time.

Fun fact: I made the subscribe button for the end of JVGS Jeff's videos :)

I was lucky enough to have some money with me and be able to pick up some of my favourite furniture series in the game - the sweets set!

 I went up to the museum to see Jodie's very pretty storage rooms.

 I considered going into Able's, and I'm glad I chose to as I found this umbrella...it perfectly matches my dress!

 Jodie time travelled to Saturday so we could watch K.K. perform together.

 I requested an obviously fake song for us as Jodie has never heard the song K.K. makes up when you request something that doesn't exist.

 Back in Acorn, I bought a painting.
