Beth: Breath of the Wild #5

Warning: My BOTW posts may include spoilers. I will warn readers again for big spoilers that are part of the main story, but proceed with caution!

Hi everyone! I've had a fairly quiet couple of weeks in BOTW due to the release of Mario Kart 8, but let's go through some of the things I've been doing.

I finally managed to fetch a torch and light the flame outside the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab.

Inside, the mad, groovy professor gave me 3 ancient arrows in exchange for my trouble. This means I can now exchange ancient materials for ancient arrows and weapons!

I had a look at the map, and spotted this maze type thing just off the coast. I glided upwards off the map and reached it easily.

I landed on there and spotted a hidden shrine, with the map leading everywhere but the goal. Before I started exploring, there was a guardian to defeat. I did that easily and headed to the part of the maze closest to the shrine.

From there, I moved a block using magnesis and managed to climb a few sets of stairs to the shrine!

I was expecting some kind of test inside, but no. The maze was the test :P

I've also completed a few other shrines while I've been exploring!

I travelled towards the volcano, and came across this guy at Foothill Stable.

I then used some icy food to help me up the mountain, coming across this hot spring on the way!

As I climbed higher, it showed a cut scene of the nearby divine beast. Unfortunately for the Goron people, I wasn't here to defeat it...just buy their clothes :P

And that's just what I did! Once I got to Goron City, I bought the fireproof set. It was expensive, but I also sold some materials to make up for it.

I then travelled across the map to Rito Village. My plan from here is to defeat the nearby divine beast and then the one near Gerudo Town. The volcano one will probably actually be my last!

Thanks for reading! I'll be back soon with another Animal Crossing post :)

Beth: ACNL: Sunset Wander

I haven't played New Leaf for a few days, but I wanted to take a wander this evening and check in with all of my villagers!

I love the sunsets in this game, although I wish the time changed throughout the year instead of staying at 6pm-7pm all year :P

I spotted Rudy just below his house, and it kind of surprised me. He was the first villager I'd seen and I'd kind of forgotten he moved in!

I made sure to talk to him, and he wanted me to bury a time capsule. I agreed, and buried it just to the left. Hopefully nothing will be planted there :P

The rest of Acorn seemed pretty quiet, and I focused on cleaning up the town. I found the fake rock easily just below Re-Tail, as it was really near a real rock!

I found Sheldon on the other side of town, and he asked to move. I refused, as I like having squirrels in town :P

I headed up to Main Street, donated a painting and had some fossils identified. I also checked my latest dream visitor, which was JazzCool from TechnoHD! Thanks for visiting.

Thanks for reading! I'll be back over the weekend with another post :)

Squishy: Beautifying the town!

Today Daisy said that she was moving on the 10th of this month. Why are all my villagers trying to leave?

When I get this initiave I always start singing High School Musical.

Rosie said that she wanted to learn to dance. One of the answers I could have said was "You dance?". That's kind of mean.

My East area of town usually gets really full so I decided to clean it up.

Before I got started I went to visit Portia. Her house looks nice.

I went to the Island to buy some bushes.

Pietro wanted to give me his mango. Excuse me?

I made a pattern going bush, orange tree then it repeats. When everything is fully grown this should look pretty.

I thought that orange pansies would look good in between the plants so I set up a little make shift breeding area.

Rosie told me that the disco ball said that she wasn't sparkly. Again one of the options was something along the lines of "you don't". Why does Animal Crossing want me to be mean to Rosie?

Camofrog requested that a wooden bridge be built! This is my first PWP request in ages, possibly in 2017 but I'm not sure.

I also desided to move my flower heart to a more open location. The rock is kind of annoying but it still looks cute.

While looking at PWPs I realised that I still haven't built one of these. I never know what to do with it but it looks cool.

Then I went onto my Joy character and surrounded my heart with my path to make it look more noticeable.

Thank you for reading and have a good day.

Beth: Puyo Puyo Tetris Demo Discussion

Hi guys! Today we're here to talk about Puyo Puyo Tetris! As you know, this has been recently released on Nintendo Switch, and I decided to give the free demo a go.

The Game
Puyo Puyo Tetris combines classic Tetris and the Japanese game Puyo Puyo. In 2014, the two games were merged by Sonic Team. Thus, Puyo Puyo Tetris was born!

I had a quick look at the tutorial, which briefly explains how to play. It seems like a pretty simple game though, so I soon moved to the main game.

I had a go at Puyo Puyo, choosing an opponent playing classic Tetris. It's an interesting idea that you can choose your opponent - and you can choose whether you're playing different games or the same!

Puyo Puyo is a simple puzzle that is a little different to Tetris - as the bubbles fall in pairs, you can rotate them as they fall. To earn points, you try to make groups of four. Once four meet, they disappear from the board.

Tetris, as I'm sure you all know, is also a puzzle. As the different shapes fall, you can rotate them. Once you create a full line of shapes, the line disappears.

For both games, the one who's shapes reach the top of the board first loses.

There are many different versions of the game - but only two are unlocked in the demo. The one I talked about above is 'Versus', and the one I'm about to discuss is 'Swap'.

Swap is exactly what it sounds like. The game swaps between Puyo Puyo and Tetris, about every 25-30 seconds.

If you're wondering, the game swaps for both you and your opponent.

My Thoughts

Overall, I had mixed feelings about Puyo Puyo Tetris. I've always loved Tetris, but I actually wasn't that keen on Puyo Puyo. It was pretty...simple, and it just felt like a free mobile game.

Another thing I'd like to mention is the controls. It's pretty natural to use the joystick on the Joycon to rotate the Puyo Puyo bubbles and the Tetris shapes, but it's way too responsive for my liking. Even just a tiny touch can move the Tetris shapes over further than you want. As Jeff pointed out to me, you could always use the arrow buttons on the left Joycon, but that doesn't solve the problem on multiplayer!

This game overall just seems quite simple. If it was maybe a small release at around £5, I can see the appeal. But a full, big release at £35 just isn't worth it. It's too easy, there's no story, and the 'perks' (characters and mix of Puyo Puyo and Tetris) just don't seem worth it.

Maybe it's different in the full game, but I am a big lover of online Tetris and I just don't see the appeal of a full game like this.

Squishy: "Fantastic" presents

Yesterday Camofrog wanted to move out on the 6th May. I'll let him move out soon but nows not the time.

I met my newest neighbour, Portia the dog! She's kind of cool.

Hey there Portia, I wanna pet ya

Rosie asked me to deliver something to Pietro. I got an orange for my troubles. If I wanted an orange I would have went and picked one.

Jeremiah asked for a peach. I really wish Pietro gave me one. It would have made this task a lot easier.

He gave me a "fantastic" gift for my troubles.

My villagers are really bad at giving me gifts.

The evening sky looked really pretty so I took a picture.

I finally got rid of the candy from Bunny Day that was lying around.

Even though candy only sells for 100 bells each, it got me enough to upgrade my back room.

Today my room is finished. I don't know what I want to do with my house yet. Only one of the rooms are 100% finished (my sweets room).

Portia told me one of the reasons why I never leave the house.

Thank you for reading and have a good week. Also good luck to those taking exams for the next few weeks.

Beth: ACNL: Weeding Day 2017

Hi guys! As you may know, yesterday was Weeding Day in NL. I made sure to play on both of my cards.

In Acorn, my main town, I only had one weed!

While hunting for this lone weed, I found a house plot! It's for Rudy the cat. I'm not bothered about him either way, if I'm honest.

It took a while, and the lonesome weed happened to be very hidden :P Can you see it?

Lief gave me a cosmos fan as a reward for finding the weed.

I then swapped cards and played on Arrested, which I own with Jeff. I found another house plot there, for Olaf the anteater!

There were more weeds in Arrested, as I'd let them grow in preparation for Weeding Day.

It didn't take me long (and only one walk round) to find all of the weeds. Leif rewarded me with a violet screen.

I then loaded the game with Lucille and Tobias, which meant I could get the rose sofa and another cosmos fan. I'd have liked a different piece of furniture rather than another fan, but oh well!

Back in Acorn, I changed the time to 6am. I love the hazy, misty early-morning skies.

This allowed me to receive the topiaries from Leif, as I didn't have any weeds in town at all!

As I had reloaded the game on what was essentially a new day, I went to meet Rudy. I honestly thought it was a girl before this moment :P

Thanks for reading! See you soon.
