Squishy: Villager escape plan

On Monday Jeff messaged me that perfect oranges were being sold for extra at his ReTail so I quickly gathered fruit from some stray trees.

Sadly my internet wasn't cooperating so the trip was cancelled...

If I haven't played that evening though, I wouldn't have stopped Flurry from moving away. I already lost you once in an alternate universe, I'm not gonna lose you again.

On Wednesday Lucha mentioned a special someone. Hmmm I wonder who they are. I'll leave the lovebirds to it.

He also wanted some fruit. I gave him a perfect orange and he gave me a regal sofa as a reward.

Flurry says that she keeps around her house looking clean. I'll be the judge of that!

I'll give it a pass. It needs more flowers though.

Filbert wanted someone to replace his Robo bed so I decided to be nice and give him Isabelle's scooter.

Great grammar Nintendo

I got a music stand for my troubles.

Stitches wanted a new catchphrase. Let's just say I'm not that creative...

After I saw Chuggaaconroy get another set of beans, I had to try it for myself. I didn't even know it was possible to get more than one.

Tonight in Cosmic was the meteor shower! I'll be keeping my eye out for some wishes.

Iggly decided to state the obvious. Thanks dude...

Jeremiah pinged me and said that he was leaving town on the 6th November. Why are all my cool villagers trying to leave? Of course I told him to stay.

I ended the day by making a wish on a shooting star! Pretty!

Thanks for reading and I'll see you next time!

Squishy's thoughts on Animal Crossing Pocket Camp

Early this morning (or late last night) Nintendo revealed the Animal Crossing app to us all. Its called "Animal Crossing Pocket Camp and its coming out in late November. Here are my thoughts on the app.

Gameplay
The game is similar to Happy Home Designer in that you design a plot of space to make villagers happy. The only difference is that your customizing your very own campground rather than just villager's homes. Plus your attracting villagers rather than finding them on the street to do work. I think making an Animal Crossing app that involves designing things is a safe move for Nintendo. However I'm not sure about its lifespan.

You collect materials to get Cyrus to build you some new furniture. Or you can buy furniture in a little market place for bells or Leaf Tickets. I like how you have to earn the furniture traditionally rather than just getting it in a catalog randomly. You can also buy bells and Leaf Tickets using real money.

"You know your childhood is over when your paying Tom Nook real money"

Really though, the option doesn't bother me (I'm guilty of spending a little on Pokemon Go back in the day).

You get your own camper to customize as well, both inside and out. That's a nice touch, especially the second floor which came as a surprise.

Villagers
For the first time in Animal Crossing history, you can actually see the friendship you have with other villagers. Although it may not be useful its still nice to see the addition. You can lure different villagers to your campground depending on what furniture you have set down so getting ugly villagers can still happen.

Your player can also be customized, similar to how it worked in Happy Home Designer. You can choose your hair, eyes and skin colour. Its nice to see this return!

Other features
You an your friends can visit each other's campgrounds which is cool since a lot of Nintendo's other apps haven't been very good with connecting to other players like this. You can even get items off them for bells. I love that addition because it wasn't needed but it makes the app better.

You can now catch multiple fish and bugs at once using honey and large fishing nets. It looks like from the footage that you can catch at least ten of something (at least for fish). Also when fishing or bug catching traditionally a "!" will pop up indicating that you got it. So no more turning the volume up to fish!

Lastly there will be updates and seasonal events which will allow you to get new items and possibly other bonuses. Sweet!

Overall
Overall I think this is really impressive for a mobile game. One thing they didn't mentio is the connectivity with other Animal Crossing titles, so is that coming? Or are they waiting for a Switch version? Thank you for reading and I'll see you all next time!

Squishy: Animal Crossing Mobile isn't dead!

Earlier today, Nintendo announced that they will be having a 15 minute long Direct about the up and (finally) coming Animal Crossing mobile app. It will be live on Wednesday 25th October at 7am (UK time, wow Nintendo like ruining my sleep schedule). Here are my thoughts on what I think will be announced.

Nintendo told us that they won't be announcing anything else other than information about the app. However, I think they will at least mention any compatibility that it might have with games that are currently out. Plus Nintendo tend to kind of lie about these things so we might actually get more than we bargained for.

No matter what the game is actually about, I think there will be some sort of character customization. Whether its a social media app or a game similar to ones from the main series, it would be a crime to not have a main character to work with.

I remember someone mentioning that there would be multiplayer of some sort (I can't remember if it was Nintendo or just a popular suggestion). If it was a game that involves creating and designing something then the ability to share it with friends would be cool. If it was a social media app then I can see there just being a chat feature or something. I don't know how a mobile game will be able to make a proper multiplayer similar to the main games work. I guess we'll see on Wednesday.

Lastly and the most obvious thing that they will (well, should) be announced is the release date. For the last year the app was like a unicorn that only showed up in leaks and randomly in the Animal Crossing community. Nintendo should put us all to rest and give us a date to work with.

Thank you for reading and I'll see you back here on Wednesday for my reaction. I will be back with New Leaf on Friday!

Squishy: Stardew Valley: Willy's new pole

One thing that’s in Stardew Valley and no other farming game is... Bin diving! Yep!

I realised that I forgot to meet some of the town's people. After meeting George, I'm starting to regret my decision.

I went to the general store and spent most of my gold on some more seeds. I also made a little plot for any mixed seeds I find.

While doing some more exploring, I found this little path north of my farm.

I found an old man living in a tent. He was a lot more friendly than George that's for sure

I went back to my farm and found a ruined building. What an eye sore!

I sold some thinfs and moved onto the next day.

It was raining again so I went to do some more Foraging. Whe I went to the beach, my first triggered happened which happened to be with Willy.

He started telling me about his fishing trip and his new pole. He also gave me his old one so now I can start fishing!

This quote needs to be framed in a fancy person's house somewhere!

I collected enough wood to fix the little beach bridge.

There were more items to Forage and an old dude who refused to sell me something because "I'm not ready". Interesting... I'll remember that for the future.

The beach really helped (no thanks to the old dude) because my Foraging level is now at 2. I unlocked the ability to make burgers. Yum!

I'm slowly but surely making more money! Thanks for reading and I'll see you again soon. No old men were harmed in the making of this blog entry!

Squishy: Friday the not 13th

I haven't realy been playing much. School and a hurricane got in the way. When I did play I noticed that the ground is now orange. It also makes crunchy leaf sounds!

The villagers were also concerned that I wasn't around. Sorry guys.

I visited Lucha. His house looks like half a boxing ring. Looks like the other half is stuck in the wall.

I spoke to him and it looks like the weights are really big eyes, just staring at me.

I was having a bad luck day. It had nothing to do with Friday the 13th since that was last week. That really needs to be an event.

Speaking of events, I made a post about some concept sketches for event ideas I had. You can see that post here!

Since I played at around 10:30pm there wasn't much going on, even if Blaire says otherwise.

Thank you for reading and have a good weekend!

Squishy: Expanding on my Event ideas (1)

Back in September I gave some of my event ideas for a possible Switch version of Animal Crossing. That gave me the idea to start drawing out storyboards for some of my events to get a better idea of what they look like. So I did just that and will be showing them today.

(Keep in mind that my drawing skills aren't the best, this is just to show the basic idea of the event. So without further ado, lets get started!)

Fruit Festival
The Fruit Festival is where you give villagers your native fruit and you can choose between either a different fruit or some fruit themed furniture. This is a way for players who may not be able to trade with other players to easily get fruit.

As you can see above, I have my player giving Rosie(?) an orange. In return she will either give me a pear or a piece of furniture. For the furniture so far I have the kiwi stool which is already an item in New Leaf. Then next to it I have a banana sofa (the little cushions are sliced up pieces of banana). This is a new item that I designed which I think would look cool in a fruit themed home.

Swimming Race
The Swimming Race is easy enough. You head to the beach wearing a wet suit and race against one-three villagers to win a trophy. I will add on further that if you can keep beating your swimming time, you can get an exclusive set of furniture.

You can see my character drowning swimming with Iggly behind her. Since Iggly is a penguin, he is a faster swimmer while if I made a sheep character swim they would be much slower. The event would also have an award ceremony. I haven't decided who would host the event yet though. I'm thinking about either Kapp'n or Pascal. If anyone has any ideas feel free to leave them in the comments!

Pumpkin Carving
This is where you make a design and have it carved onto a pumpkin. The pumpkin will sit outside our house for the rest of October.

Yes I gave my pumpkin a mustache.

The designs tab has evolved so much over the years. It would be awesome to see it used more in events and stuff.

Thank you for reading and I look forward to drawing more of these storyboards for other events.

Squishy: Stardew Valley: Living off the (messy) land

On Spring 3rd, I got an advertisement in the post from the general store.

It was my first rainy day on Cosmic farm, so I didn't have to water my crops.

I decided to use my energy on cleaning my farm a bit.

I've been spending the last few days cleaning and Foraging to make some pocket change.

I stopped playing for a bit then starting up the game again. The loading screen shows the controls, some of which I didn't even know about.

On the 5th my parsnips finished growing!

Joja sent me a letter about their current business. I never thought I'd hear from them again after quitting my job.

Those parsnips got me to Level 1 in Farming. Awesome!

They also made a fecent amount of Gold. I'm getting the hang of this!

Thank you for reading and stay safe tomorrow during the hurricane
